Regularizing dual-frame generalized harmonic gauge at null infinity

Abstract The dual-frame formalism leads to an approach extend numerical relativity simulations in generalized harmonic gauge (GHG) all the way null infinity. A major setback is that without care, even simple choices of initial data give rise logarithmically divergent terms would result irregular variables and equations on compactified domain, which turn prevent accurate approximation. It has been shown, however, a suitable choice constraint addition can be used their appearance. Presently we first order symmetric hyperbolic reduction general GHG hyperboloidal slices exploits this knowledge eradicates these log-terms at leading orders. Because effect asymptotic solution space, specific formally singular are systematically chosen remain. Such have successfully treated numerically toy models formulation with desirable property unphysical radiation content near infinity suppressed.

Regularity at space-like and null infinity
We extend Penrose’s peeling model for the asymptotic behaviour of solutions to the scalar wave equation at null infinity on asymptotically flat backgrounds, which is well understood for flat space-time, to Schwarzschild and the asymptotically simple space-times of Corvino-Schoen/Chrusciel-Delay. We combine conformal techniques and vector field methods: a naive adaptation of the “Morawetz vector...
متن کاملAn angular momentum bound at null infinity
We prove an inequality relating the trace of the extrinsic curvature, the total angular momentum, the centre of mass, and the Trautman-Bondi mass for a class of gravitational initial data sets with constant mean curvature extending to null infinity. As an application we obtain non-existence results for the asymptotic Dirichlet problem for CMC hypersurfaces in stationary space-times.
متن کاملOn Global Conservation Laws at Null Infinity
The “standard” expressions for total energy, linear momentum and also angular momentum of asymptotically flat Bondi metrics at null infinity are also obtained from differential conservation laws on asymptotically flat backgrounds, derived from a quadratic Lagrangian density by methods currently used in classical field theory. It is thus a matter of taste and commodity to use or not to use a ref...
متن کاملTaub numbers at future null infinity : III . The Bondi mass
This work extends the ideas developed in two previous papers by the authors. Firstand second-order perturbation solutions of Einstein’s equations (in Newman–Penrose form) for the Bondi–Sachs metric are found on a background Minkowski manifold. These solutions allow a tensorial calculation of the Bondi mass using the Taub superpotential. PACS numbers: 0425N, 0440N
متن کاملBehavior of Einstein-Rosen Waves at null infinity
The asymptotic behavior of Einstein-Rosen waves at null infinity in 4 dimensions is investigated in all directions by exploiting the relation between the 4-dimensional space-time and the 3-dimensional symmetry reduction thereof. Somewhat surprisingly, the behavior in a generic direction is better than that in directions orthogonal to the symmetry axis. The geometric origin of this difference ca...
